OUGD505 - SB2 - Aesthetic Research - Music vs Gun Violence

For the final point of research the decision was made to step away from looking at research to do with Hip-Hop magazines and related culture and to instead look at an organisation that incorporated Hip-Hop in with social change, in order to gain contextually and aesthetically based research that relates more specifically to using Hip-Hop as a means of change.

Music vs Gun Violence employs youth and urban culture by means of Hip-Hop music to fight Gun Violence and stand against it. They are an organisation that stand for the ethos of choosing music over violence and ask that instead of violence, the American youth should instead choose to release their anguish and expression though Hip-hop music. This acts as great research as it has given an insight in to how Hip-hop can be used constructively once again, to create social change.

For the aesthetically styling the organisation decided to combine a feature focus colour with clean modern design and gritty urban imagery, the perfect aesthetic styling of something that centres itself around the content it does, and definitely is the aesthetic that will be taken forward in to the design side of the project.
