OUGD505 - SB2 - Design Decisions - Aesthetic Styling

Now that the research stage was finalised, both contextual, content wise and aesthetically it was now time to move on to the designing stage of the project. From the research the decision for aesthetic styling had been made, the decision had been made that due to the nature of the publication being very focused on being informational there would be a high level of text throughout the designing. This high level of information will then be paired with a high level of photography to act as a visual aid to the information as the research outline clearly that within the culture of Hip-Hop magazines, photography is very important.

The aesthetics out the design will feature a contrast of modern, clean and professional aesthetic paired with a homage to the historical side of Hip-Hop Culture. Creating the homage to the old era of hip-Hop, while conveying where Hip-Hop is at in modern day culture, all the time relating the Hip-Hop to music of resistance in oder to show the expressive side of the music, through the radical and chaotic but clean and commercial final aesthetic. The aesthetic also further solidify the concept generated from the brief itself as the comparison of the old and new aesthetics reflects on the historical and 21st century issues surrounding the cause itself.
