To begin the designing stage I first created a mind map and evaluation of the two different chronological styles that I could partake in and these two style were either a very modern style or contrastingly it could be designed in a very retro/neo-vintage style.
In the mind map I outlined a number attributes of each style of which are positive to convey to potential audience through a logo. Firstly for the retro/vintage/rustic aesthetic decision the main aspects that were outlines were that it gives off a essence of homeliness, a warming feeling, its inviting, its personal and finally its handcrafted and hand-rendered and these are crucial aspects that are needed to be displayed through the logo as they massively represent what Tratar are all about from the family run business feeling, to the ethical backgrounds and the love that goes in to every product.
Then It was time to outline some possible cons that could be encountered with this style and they are that "the design work can appear outdated and unrelating of modern day society", Retro vintage feel can convey unprofessionalism in used incorrectly" and finally that "can hinder products by making it seen lower quality than products with a clean corporate branding".
The next style looked at for the potential was a very modern aesthetic. These describing words outlined were that it is a very clean and sleek design style, that it gives off a feeling of precision while still being elegant and overall just gives off a very professional feel and these are important aspects I believe should be conveyed through the logo of Tratar bikes so that potential buyers are immediately shown the care and attention and quality of work and products that is put in to each hand carved product. Yet again the next stage was to outline some possible cons that can come along side this design style and they are that "they can see over-proffesional and therefore not display the care put in to bespoke handcrafted products", "can seem over corporate" and that "they can seem not as expressive of a companies ethos' and mission statement"
After looking at these two different styles it has become immediately apparent that not one of these alone will dull be able to display all the sides to Tratar bikes and actually to fully convey the USP's of Tratar and eventually increase their popularity a perfect mix of the two different style will have to be used.
