COMMERCIAL BICYCLE COMPANIES
The research started by looking at a list of the top ten highest selling and most expensive commercial bicycle companies on the market and here they are, four of these companies will be picked at random in which research into logo design for existing commercial companies will be taken from;
These four companies are Specialized, Trek, Scott & Giant and here are their logos;
The first thing that becomes very apparent to me immediately when looking at these logos from the most commercial and highest selling bicycles that they all combine the use of a very simple graphic used as the iconography to display the brand and then this is combined with a accompanying title font for the brand. The use of this similar style will benefit the growth of a brand of which is exactly what tartar bikes need as it allows people to become familiar with the brand font and title logo but also the accompaniment of a logo leads the people to becoming knowledgeable of the brand through iconography only which is a massive element of what turns a company in to a brand and furthermore boost sales and interest so I will be taking this method forward into my final logo.
Another thing that becomes immediately apparent is that the commercial bike manufacturing companies is that they tend to lean towards the design of their logos giving off a very clinical, and mechanical feel which I understand as this very precise machine like feel is perfect for displaying the intended message from the bikes that they are concise and manufactured machines adding a sense of perfection that they desire. Although it is apparent that this works with most commercial bikes it doesn't at all represent Tratar bikes and their eco friendly, handmade wooden bicycles so a different design style is needed in the creation of my final design.
Although it is evident that this is a very appropriate style for more commercial bikes but I don't think that this mainstream style will work for tratar bikes as it don't well enough convert the ethos' of Tratar bikes or what makes them unique.
