OUGD503 SB1 - Secret 7" - Max Richter - C4D & Initial Stages

At first Cinema4D looked very daunting as it was a piece of software of which had never been needed in an of my previous briefs and so it was a whole new territory for me. After watching a number of online tutorials of which helped me along the process as it taught the necessities needed for me to use the program it was time to attempt to begin designing.

The first step was to create the building block from which the whole city scape would be constructed by using the cube button, therefore creating and placing on the plain a block that can be modelled.

The next stage in the process was to decided on the high of the block, that will represent a single building. The dimensions of the block are measured by an X, Y & Z axis and so I entered that the Y Height should be 40cm double that of the X & Z axis which is 20cm to elevate the block.

The block in the construction panel is edited by having all of the sides split in to different segments, the building was split up in co-ordination to the high, 40 segments high by 20 segments deep and wide allowing each square to be edited at a later point.
The view mode is changed to a special view method of which allows you to see the lines that separate these segments.

The block is now aligned with the grid squares on the floor axis so that the buildings remain consistent in alignment.

To complete the final editing stage the object must be changed from a block to the editable object that will eventually become a building.

The final stage of the editing process that will make the block that was initially there become the building that it will eventually be is all down to the final step, the live selection tool is used to select a number of the squares wishing the face of the building and then the extrude feature will be selected. The arrows that usually control movement of the building now instead control the extrusion of the areas selected. The extrusions of the selected square become the windows, doorways and building feature that will help to building the final cityscape model.
