OUGD503 - Secret 7" - Max Richter - C4D Development

Now that my knowledge in to the new software had been diversified through the completion of online tutorials to learn the necessary skills and simple the practice that has been put in to learning the software it was now time to begin the designing stage of the final aspects of this project for Dream 3 by Max Richter.
The first stage of the design was to use the skills learnt in the prior stage to construct the desired cityscape, using a combination of the create cube tool, and then the live selection tool to create a number of extrusions that would become the windows on the side faces and the fire exit of the top, this small details are what will make the building look lifelike.

Throughout the designing process a point of research that was partaken was looking at examples of contemporary architecture, more specifically related to skyscrapers so that they would look as realistic as possible to give the desired effect. The Y axis height ranges for the different buildings were all kept in relation to each other in order to create a sense of continuity throughout the design, the different buildings were all modelled differently so that it created a diversity within the design, as if they were modelled similarly it would look unprofessional and therefore is to be avoided.

The buildings were arranged in stages going from the foremost closest point of the grid to the back of the grid through the cityscape, the buildings were all created with axis lengths of multiples of 10cm so that it stayed uniform and consistent with the base axis grid. The grid was used to align the building to create order and structure in the cityscape, making the design look much more professional.

The cityscape was finalised by adding the final few buildings in the last row of the base grid. As you can see from the image below the difference between the use of extrusions and differing heights and depth cam together to create a professional and realistic city scape, almost something that could be seen in the centre of a major city such as New York, famous for its straight and parallel roads and buildings.
