OUGD503 - YCN - Orchard Pig - Brief & Understanding

The first brief that immediately jumped out at me as brief that I believe I would not only be able to complete proficiently but also enjoy vastly while completing it, and as a large brief of which will need to take a lot of dedication and work this interest in to the actual feature of the brief may help me a long my way.

The task set in the brief by Orchard Pig is to rebrand their collection of bottled ciders sold in drinking venue and retail establishment, and their draft ciders sold solely on pubs and bars. Rather than doing this in a way tat most beer and cider producers would, instead they would insist that they are rebranded to almost fit in with the "craft beer" world as almost the first craft cider. The designing stage for the brief will have to include a number of design outcomes like the basics such as packaging and point of pour to the additional extras such as advertising methods and special feature, anything that can be made to construct a succinct campaign. All of this in implicated with the end goal of engaging customers with the brand and getting people involved, whether that be current lovers of the brand or people that are new to Orchard Pig.

They outline that the campaign should have no specific target audience at all really, as they believe that Orchard Pig cider is for anyone and everyone, age permitting of course and this means that the potential for design within the unit isn't limited by any sort of precautions led by target audience and any factor about them be it age, gender, sexuality etc...

The brief comes accompanied with all the information that Orchard Pig believe should be present in the design decision and these are the ethos' of the company, and they must be conveyed through the packaging and branding and these are summarised through a number of key words and they are...

Be Bold, All About The Cider, Rooted In Somerset, Be Mischievous, Be Simple & Be For Everyone!

This to me screams a brief that will be very interesting and fun to complete! It incorporates an aspect of design that love which is namely Branding & Packaging and so I believe I will be able to approach this appropriately and enjoy it while doing it! Giving me another chance to do something that I love but another added extra for me in this brief is the chance to work on developing a whole campaign for a product as this is something I don't have much experience in as we usually have a single outcome style for each brief but these tasks require us to creat a well rounded design package.
