The next artist that inspiration would be took from are a partnership of vary famous and proficient album artwork designers called Tappin Gorton comprised of Mark Tappin & Simon Gofton, they have designed the album artwork for a number of very famous and rebound contemporary artists such as Coldplay, The Chemical Brothers, Everything Everything and more.
The research in to them will stem itself around two different methods that could be used in the final design solutions, these are firstly Expressive illustration & Photography.
Expressive Illustrations
The first album looked at is The Chemical Brother - Push The Button in which Tappin Gofton implement the use off illustration combined with imagery of which allows the potential audience to reflect on the imagery and from which they can obtain an overview of the album and its contents. This iconography combined with expressive typography comes together to create an aesthetically pleasing design of which can convey the massage behind the album.
The second example of their work from the push the button series of artwork displays another way in which this style can benefit as it allows small additions and alterations to be made to achieve a much higher load of work with little change and also keep consistency through design. With a small amount of change to the typography and a small change in the iconography within the design the design can convey a very different connotation while remaining aesthetically consistent.
Photography & Photo Editing
The next method of which could be used in the completion of this project is seen in this design for Everything Everything - Kemosabe and is the use of photography and photo manipulation. This would be an appropriate avenue to take in the design of this work as rather than using an expressive method through iconography like illustration it implements a more matter of fact straight forward approach. Rather than alluding to the content of the album it conveys a much straight forward meaning making it immediately obvious to the potential audience.
This use of photography can mean that rather than spending a massive amount of time in the construction of a piece of intricate design it can help in speeding up the potential work load by making the journey to the final outcome much quicker.
To complicate this photography process additional photographic manipulations can be used to diversify the photography process and rather than conveying the message immediately like the aforementioned photography it instead adds the notion of complexity and confusion to the artwork instead now more alluding to the meaning of the album.
